The reason that compel one to remain single are varied. Spiritual people have inclinations to progress spiritually. For achieving this they give up the bondings of the family and remain single. There are hundreds of examples of saints remaining single with the celibacy vow. We have the account of Brahmavadinis, who did not marry by choice and were lifelong students of theology and philosophy. The benefit of Astrological study is to see such tendencies and advice a course of life. People with such urges prefer a celibate life. The reason for choosing a life of a single could be a traumatic previous life experiences also, as was in the case of shanti devi, who was born with harsh memories of the previous life’s death during pregnancy. Psychologists attribute disinterest in marriage due to childhood traumatic experiences or broken relationships of parents. There would also be category, who would like to get married but priority of career or social responsibilities make them defer marriage. There are cases of no marriage, as the hunt for Mr. Right or Miss Right proved futile and extended lifelong. In case of men, the failure to earn, resulting in absence of financial security has been found a reason to remain single.
